A Three-Part Teen Summer Series | One Coppell

What if the challenges facing your city weren’t just problems for adults to solve — but real opportunities for you to lead? 

This summer, One Coppell is launching Problem Solvers in Beta: Debug the Community — a three-part learning series designed for teens who are ready to think critically, collaborate creatively, and make a real impact on the city they call home. 

Participants will work on actual challenges submitted by City of Coppell departments. This isn’t a simulation. The problems are real. The thinking is yours. And by Session 3, you’ll present your solution directly to city leaders — giving them something they can actually use. 

More Than a Workshop

Every session opens with a connection experience tied directly to that day’s topic — a chance to meet the people in the room, hear their stories, and start building the kind of trust that makes great collaboration possible. One Coppell has always believed that how we learn together matters as much as what we learn. That's true for adults, and it's just as true for teens. 

You won’t just leave with new skills. You’ll leave with new connections — to peers, to your city, and to a community that believes you belong here.

Session 1 — Break the Problem: Debug the Why

Monday, June 30  |  10:00 AM – 12:30 PM  |  Coppell Arts Center

Before you can fix something, you must understand it. In Session 1, you’ll dig beneath the surface of a real city challenge to find the root cause — not just the symptoms. Using AI-assisted analysis tools alongside your own reasoning, you’ll learn to ask better questions, map problems visually, and develop the kind of thinking that drives real solutions. 

Skills you’ll build: critical thinking, root cause analysis, AI literacy

Session 2 — Build the Solution: Design the Fix

Wednesday, July 9  |  10:00 AM – 12:30 PM  |  Coppell Arts Center

Now that you understand the problem, it’s time to solve it. In Session 2, you’ll move from analysis to action — brainstorming ideas, evaluating what’s realistic, and prototyping a visual solution using digital design tools. You’ll learn how to rank ideas by impact and feasibility, and refine your thinking until you have something worth presenting. 

Skills you’ll build: ideation, design thinking, collaborative decision-making

Session 3 — Lead the Change: Drive the Impact

Wednesday, July 16  |  10:00 AM – 12:30 PM  |  Coppell Arts Center

This is where it all comes together. In Session 3, you’ll turn your solution into a compelling presentation and deliver it to city leaders — live. You’ll learn how to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, tell a visual story, and receive real feedback from the people who can actually put your idea to work. 

Skills you’ll build: public speaking, visual storytelling, leadership

What You’ll Earn

• Dallas College Continuing Education Certificate of Completion (awarded to participants who complete all three sessions) 

• Volunteer hours for community service credit (up to 7.5 hours) 

• Real-world skills in critical thinking, AI tools, design, and public speaking — valuable for school, college applications, and beyond 

Who This Is For

This series is open to Coppell teens 9th–12th grade. No prior experience with technology or public speaking required — just curiosity, a willingness to collaborate, and a desire to make a difference in your community. 

All sessions are free. Lunch is provided. Space is limited — registration is required.
