Cultivating Wisdom & True Wealth: Reflecting on Our Two-Part Learning Series

Participants gather at The CORE for Cultivating Wisdom & True Wealth’s first session, led by Ron Nakamoto of True Wealth Mentorship.

This spring, One Coppell partnered with True Wealth Mentorship to offer our community something a little different: two free evening sessions built around reflection, everyday wisdom, and the kind of learning that doesn't require a background in anything — just a willingness to show up. Both sessions were led by Ron Nakamoto and held at The CORE, and together they formed a two-part series called Cultivating Wisdom & True Wealth.

Session 1: Introduction to Cultivating Wisdom — A Practical Framework
The series opened on Thursday, May 14, in Multi-Purpose Room B at The CORE. Ron grounded the evening in a simple but powerful idea: our experiences, relationships, and hard-won insights are themselves a form of intelligence — one that only deepens with age. Rather than treating wisdom as abstract or reserved for a select few, the session invited participants to recognize the wisdom they already carry from their own lives, and to start thinking about how to apply it more intentionally.

For many attendees, the session offered a rare kind of space — one where reflecting on life experience wasn't just welcomed, but treated as genuinely valuable. It set the tone for the deeper conversation still to come.

Session 2: Wise Decision Making in a VUCA World — Practical Applications
Session two took place a few weeks later, on Tuesday, June 2, in Multi-Purpose Room A. This installment took the ideas from Session 1 and applied them directly to the world many of us feel we're navigating right now — one that's Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous (VUCA). Ron explored how that kind of environment can easily pull people toward reactive, fear-driven decisions, and how cultivated wisdom offers a steadier, more grounded alternative.

Participants left with practical tools for approaching major life transitions, deepening relationships, and making clearer decisions — even when the surrounding circumstances feel uncertain.

Why This Matters for One Coppell
This series reflects what One Coppell is all about: creating welcoming spaces where residents can connect, learn, and grow together, in support of the community's shared Vision 2040. Sessions like these — free, accessible, and rooted in real life rather than theory — are exactly the kind of programming that helps build a more connected and resilient Coppell.

We're grateful to Ron Nakamoto and True Wealth Mentorship for partnering with us on this series, and to everyone who joined us for one or both evenings. Keep an eye on our page for future learning opportunities like this one.
